Teen/Adult Small Group

Building Social & Life Skills for Independence

Our small group program is designed for teens and adults with autism or developmental disabilities who are ready to grow their independence. Through structured, ABA-based activities, participants learn and practice essential social, communication, and daily living skills in a supportive and engaging environment. With a focus on confidence, friendships, and real-world readiness, this program helps prepare adolescents and young adults for success at school, work, and in the community.

Program Highlights

Step-by-Step Transit Training: Using ABA strategies like task analysis, modeling, and visual supports, participants learn how to safely use buses, subways, and trains.

Real-World Practice: Skills are taught in the community with the support of trained staff, then gradually faded toward independent travel.

Safety First: From road safety to problem-solving unexpected situations, we prioritize safety at every step.

Customized Routes: Each participant’s goals are personalized—whether traveling to school, work, volunteer placements, or recreational activities.

Skills We Teach
  • Planning routes using maps or transit apps.

  • Boarding, paying fare, and exiting at the correct stop.

  • Crossing streets and waiting safely at stops.

  • Asking for help and interacting appropriately with strangers.

  • Handling real-life challenges like missed stops or late buses.

Our Approach
  • Visual Supports & Technology: Schedules, checklists, and mobile apps.

  • Behavioral Skills Training (BST): Instruction, modeling, role-play, and feedback.
